Event organizers are masters of producing fun and exciting charitable events, but the task of making each one unique can be challenging.
Covenant House Michigan has solved this dilemma by relying on a central theme that offers a memorable evening of entertainment year after year.
Each year, Covenant House’s event organizers produce a Broadway stage show as the centerpiece of their annual gala. Due to the theater seating for their guests however, there is no silent auction included in the fundraiser. Instead, the evening begins with the performance, followed by a reaffirmation of Covenant House’s mission statement and a Fund-a-Need. This format provides the organization with an engaged and captive audience, yet there are still some challenges to overcome.
With over 400 people in attendance and low theater lighting, event organizers found it difficult to record every pledge offered during the Fund-a-Need portion of the program. In the past, they relied on a system where donors sent their pledges via text and staff recorded the pledges on spreadsheets. This method wasn’t efficient enough and didn’t enable them to maximize donations for their fun and imaginative event. Additionally, Covenant House was unable to effectively gather guest information from sponsors who purchased 95% of the tickets sold. They needed a better way, and that led them to Greater Giving.
This year, Covenant House utilized Greater Giving’s Event Software to manage their largest annual fundraiser. Guest information was collected and verified easily at check-in; donations were processed and recorded automatically; and afterwards the reporting tool confirmed that the event had been their most successful to date!
Covenant House Michigan had the recipe for an amazing fundraiser and the dedicated people to make it happen, yet without the technology to track donations the event was unable to reach its full potential. By choosing software with Greater Giving’s Go Time and Online Bidding tools, event organizers have now added the missing piece to produce an extraordinary event and successful fundraiser.
